Press Release

Short Version:

Who says 25 is not a big number? Sure not that big but in years? Already a lot and in band years? Even more! Everybody who had a band knows that this is quite a long time in the music circus and not many of them manage to survive a quarter of a century. Shakra have made it and it does not look like they’re going to retire, no, on the contrary! Shakra want to celebrate a quarter of a century of hard rock music and this anniversary with their fans in 2020!

Of course there is also new music! Eleven new stampers in good, proven Shakra style and a heartbreaking ballad make up the new album “Mad World”. It’s a mad world indeed. But if something is steadfast in this crazy world, it is the music of the five Swiss, who do not have to prove themselves with this new work, no, they are allowed to and can with audible passion.

Long Version:

Who says 25 is not a big number? Sure not that big but in years? Already a lot and in band years? Even more! Through highs and lows the band has successfully steered their ship and can draw on twenty-five-year maturity and experience. Of course there is also new music! Eleven new stampers in good, proven Shakra style and a heartbreaking ballad make up the new album “Mad World”. Indeed it is a mad world in all its facets. What once was good is bad today, what was worth yesterday is worthless today, non-real becomes shiny gold. It’s not only in the music scene turbulent times – the whole world is upside down, looking for new solutions. The change of time may seem strange, but it still surrounds us every second of our lives. But if there is something steadfast in this crazy world, it is the music of the five Swiss, who do not have to prove themselves with this new work, no, they are allowed to and can with audible passion.

Biography

With their first releases Shakra (1997), and Moving Force (1999), and by touring with Great White and Uriah Heep, the early career of this Swiss band was a steep learning curve with dramatic success but the real breakthrough came with their third record Power Ride (2001) when singer Pete Wiedmer was forced to leave the band because of ill health, replaced by Mark Fox. Fox immediately put his stamp on the following album Rising (2003), which saw Shakra hit the German and Swiss album charts. The band played several concerts and festivals, one of which was the prestigious “Bang Your Head” event.
